The SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit 2024 opened in Birmingham, with more than 1,500 delegates from over 100 countries meeting in the West Midlands for the highly anticipated return of sport’s most important industry summit. Delegates from national sporting organisations in the UK, Europe and Worldwide came together to celebrate sport and network.

The UKMF hosted a “good morning Muay Thai” event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel today between 7 – 9am. The event welcomed delegates from the summit to a taster session in Muay Thai, led by Stephan Fox, the General Secretary of IFMA (International Federation of Muay Thai Associations) and one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters of this era, Baukaw.

The highlight for us was to receive a lifetime achievement award for our Arjarn Mick Mullaney, founder of WickerCamp who has recently retired from the world of Muay Thai. Presented by Stephan Fox (left) and acting President of IFMA Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan (right), Trix received this award on Mick’s behalf.

WickerCamp junior fighters (Roo MarchMullaney, Sebastian Holub, Franky Sandor and Riley Carnall) also attended this event and were very honoured to train and be coached by Buakaw.

Darren Castledine, WickerCamp coach of 30+ years, ex-fighter and champion also attended the event and was privileged to take Buakaw on the pads!!!! Finally cementing the disputed label “best padman int’ gym”!!

The event closed with a Buddhist blessing from three monks, a beautiful end to a memorable morning of Muay Thai.

Don’t miss out on Buakaw’s Seminar tomorrow evening. Last chance to register and learn from this amazing legend.
