We are almost back in sunny Sheffield after a very long 17 hour journey home. We are all exhausted from the travelling but happy to be nearly back at WickerCamp, it seems like we’ve been away ages.

I am so proud of Roo and Franky. Not only for their fantastic performances and winning Bronze medals but because they have conducted themselves as model athletes promoting the true values of amateur sport. Well done boys.

I was hoping to make contact whilst out there with a Turkish relief agency working for the victims of the recent earthquakes to make a donation from Wicker Camp; however, we were too busy and just didn’t have time.

Coincidentally one of our female students who is Turkish (Merve) has recently been in Turkey and has just contacted me about a Solidarity night she is involved in organising in aid of the Turkish and Syria earthquakes. Here is the link with more information…..

It will involve food, live music from Sheffield bands, DJs with music from Turkey and Syria etc. Linda (another one of our female students) is playing with her band too. Sounds like a great night if you can make it.

In support of our Turkish friends Wicker Camp will be supporting this event with a donation of £300. The Turkish people in Ankara were very friendly. It is a massive busy capital city and not a tourist destination at all so the people were not used to having tourists there at all, no-one spoke English!!! We had an interpreter (Melike) at the hotel who helped with transfers to and from the venue and she was very helpful.
