Update from Thailand
Koh Samui
Roo is training very hard, twice a day and not missed a session yet. He is training at Mae Nam MuayThai with Bon and N two ex professional fighters with a staggering 500+ fight experience between them. He is due to fight on the 16th August at Petch Buncha stadium. They’re struggling to match him due to his age and little experience compared to most fighters here. Hopefully they will be able to find a suitable match.
Roo is staying in Mae Nam and I am staying in BangPo, the accomodation is okay😊.
It’s about 34* all the bloody time with 60% humidity🥵, on the plus side I think Roo will make his weight without much of a struggle.
For you dog lovers at WickerCamp we visited Coral Harbour Pier which was abandoned many years ago. It’s now a place where people abandon their dogs sadly. However, they are well looked after by the locals, tourists (who know about it) and a local dog rescue centre. They are fed and watered daily, get fish from the locals who fish there daily and the rescue centre has built shelters for them. They are friendly and pleased to see anyone for a little love and attention, and some food of course. Our two favourites were Dobby and Biscuit, Dobby’s tail constantly wagged and Biscuit just wanted some love.
WickerCamp have made their first donation of £50 to the rescue centre and intend to make regular contributions.
Thailand 2024
WickerCamp is pleased to announce there will be a Thailand trip next year. A memorable experience shared with fellow students with the opportunity to train with ex professional fighters as well as enjoying the sights and delights Thailand has to offer. A two centre holiday in Bangkok and Koh Samui, dates to be confirmed but will probably be the end of July beginning of August (17 days). All students are welcome and there will be an introductory meeting in October for anyone interested.
