What a day/evening!!
The show was in quite a small working mens club which created a fantastic atmosphere. It was also extremely hot 34+ degrees which added to the atmosphere but was tough on the fighters.
All our fighters fought very well and although we didn’t get all wins they all looked well schooled. Sometimes it’s not all about the result but the ring experience they gain and fighting someone more experienced and having a tough match is so important to grow as a fighter.
Franky Sandor junior won on points, a polished convincing win from Franky who worked hard, countered well and performed at his best.
Ezel Holub junior narrowly lost on points, this was Ezel’s first fight against a more experienced fighter. He fought really well, used all round good technique and only his lack of experience lost him the fight.
Adnan Ali won by TKO N class, Adnan had a slow start and his opponent had a high work rate in the clinch. Adnan was stronger with his boxing landing some solid shots but kept getting drawn into the clinch. Adnan needed to step up his game in the final 2 rounds to win and in the fourth round he landed a solid knee to the body which stopped his opponent from continuing.
Arkan Hussain narrowly lost on points N class, this was Arkan’s second N class fight against a very good local fighter Patrick Fox. We knew it would be a tough fight but Arkan rose to the challenge and after a slow first round really took the fight to him making Patrick work hard for the win. A fantastic fight to watch, the crowd were behind both fighters and it was definitely the fight of the night.
Harry Hardwick retired from the fight at the end of the first round, this was Harry’s 2nd fight and after coming off a loss it was going to be a bit of a test. Although he was really nervous he looked really relaxed and in control in the first round using his long range really well and landing some good combinations, probably winning that round.
However for Harry it was more of a mental challenge, unbeknown to us he was really struggling! His nerves had got the better of him and during the minute rest he decided he could no longer continue. He was devastated after feeling he’d let everyone down but he couldn’t be more wrong. A fighters journey is a difficult one and every experience positive or negative you learn and grow from. Harry will be back with support from us, family and friends.
Leon Samuels (English Title) narrowly lost on points with a split decision, this was also a great fight. Leon looked strong and was better with his hands landing some good head shots. His opponent scored well in the clinch and had a slightly higher work rate but both fighters scored equally well with kicks. The fight was to and fro and to be honest must have been difficult to judge. A good performance from Leon and unlucky but credit to his opponent for the win.
